About Dr. Idaresit Ekaette

Dr. Idaresit Ekaette is a bioresource engineer with research interests in the development of sustainable food and bio-based products. To offer solutions to academia, industry, and public health, Idaresit serves as an assistant professor jointly appointed in the Department of Bioresource Engineering and the Department of Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry, McGill University, Canada. Before joining McGill University, Idaresit was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Alberta, Canada, where she designed asphaltene-based formulations for carbon fiber production. With her expertise, Idaresit has increased her research impact in the areas of food fortification, agro-food waste valorization, and biopolymer development, while leading the Food and Biomaterial Engineering Laboratory at McGill University’s Macdonald campus. Her undeniable capacity in training highly qualified personnel is evident in her publications, conference participations, guest lectures, and student scholarships. Dr. Ekaette is a member of the ASABE, serving as a secretary of the Processing Systems technical committee in Food and Organic Waste Management, and a Scholar of the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship.
